DAM for Creatives – How DAM works

You’re probably familiar, at least on some level, with the idea of sharing access to files with a group of people. Maybe there are multiple computers in your home that can pull family photos from a networked external hard drive. Maybe you use Google Docs to share files with friends and coworkers. Maybe you even work at a place that uses a digital asset management system.

Here’s a quick presentation on how DAM works.

What separates DAM systems from everything else is that DAM systems (at least any DAM system worth having) are built to meet the more complex needs of marketers and communicators. consumer storage and collaboration solutions can be helpful. But when you too many assets, when you send your files to too many people—in other words, when managing your digital assets yourself becomes unmanageable—Google Docs and networked hard drives just won’t cut it.
