How to find the most helpful digital asset management reviews
Are you on the hunt for a digital asset management system? Whether you’re bringing this technology to your organization for the first time, or are looking for a more robust solution than your current system, knowing where to look for legitimate, relevant reviews is a big step in helping determine which DAM system is right for you.
Let’s take a look at the top three digital asset management review sites. Each offers excellent search options and an abundance of DAM user reviews that can help you narrow the playing field.
Capterra DAM Reviews
Capterra is a fantastic free resource for unbiased DAM system reviews. Their reviews come from actual DAM system users, and they encourage current users to share their experience with DAM software buyers.
Capterra currently reviews 176 DAM software products, which is a pretty hefty offering. Luckily, they’ve developed an efficient, easy-to-use filtering system that helps you drill down to the data that matters most to you in no time.
Filtering criteria includes:
- Number of users
- On-premise solutions vs. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) cloud-based DAM
- 16 different features you can choose to be included in your digital asset management system search
With a few clicks, you can sort through almost 200 software options, creating an easy-to-handle short list of DAM reviews.
Capterra has built its reputation of providing “trusted, unbiased advice,” and their site is completely free to use, with no strings attached. Their buying guides, blog posts and user reviews help you evaluate all options in one place.
In addition to digital asset management reviews, Capterra also offers reviews of over 300 software categories, “from accounting to yoga,” making them an excellent resource for information on a wide variety of professional software.
G2 Crowd DAM Reviews
Providing, “transparent, unbiased software recommendations from your peers,” is G2 Crowd’s mission. As long-time experts in the enterprise software industry, they were aware of the need for honest, relevant feedback and advice from actual users of digital asset management software, as well as hundreds of other software categories.
Since February 2013, they’ve accumulated over 25,000 reviews and more than 700,000 answers to questions software buyers need to know. Regarding DAM reviews, G2 Crowd currently provides feedback for 69 DAM products.
Although similar to Capterra’s search options, G2 Crowd’s search is organized a little differently. We really like the option that allows you to choose your industry type, which can help you pinpoint the most relevant DAM reviews that pertain to your organization’s particular niche.
Filtering criteria includes:
- Company size
- Interface and performance features, like import/export and search options
- Preferences, like versioning and metadata, for managing digital assets
- Administration preferences, including workflow management, performance, and reliability
The ability to select side-by-side comparisons is another great search feature G2 Crowd offers. They also offer a grid that shows you multiple DAM vendors and where each fits into the “four quadrants” of DAM software. The grid allows you to input the same filtering criteria as you would for one of G2 Crowd’s typical product searches.
Gleanster DAM Reviews
Another great source for free DAM reviews is Gleanster. Unlike Capterra and GC, their Gleansight Vendor Flash Report doesn’t rely on user input as reviews are posted. Instead it creates a static report, ranking DAM vendors based on feedback from actual current and previous end-users of digital asset management software.
Ranking is based on the following categories:
- Ease of use
- Ease of deployment
- Features & function
- Overall value
Gleanster also offers a Gleansight Benchmark Report, which “explores the evolving best practices and market trends in digital asset management.” The report can be obtained free of charge with a Trial Access Membership.
No-cost DAM reviews from non-biased sources
All of these reviews are free to the end user (although Gleanster also offers paid memberships). They contain reviews for reputable digital asset management vendors, so it’s not really a question of who’s good and who’s not. Instead, it’s a question of who offers the DAM software and services that best suit your needs. Much like buying a pair of running shoes, there are many quality brands to choose from, each with their own offering of fit, fabrication, and function.
All reviews are from actual, unpaid and unbiased software users, because every one of these companies understands the importance of keeping their revenue stream separate from the review process.
We recommend taking some time to check out the digital asset management reviews on all these sites to determine your next steps in finding the right software.
